Cook this sauce now, use it later. Retrieved from 1959 Edition of Farm Journal's Country Cookbook. Ingredients:
1 large onion, chopped |
1 garlic clove, chopped |
1/4 cup salad oil |
1 lb ground beef |
1 lb chopped tomato |
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste |
1 cup water |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
1 bay leaf |
1/2 large green pepper, chopped |
1 cup sliced mushrooms |
Directions:
1. Saute onion and garlic in hot oil. Add meat and cook until browned.
2. Add remaining ingredients; simmer slowly for about 1 hour.
3. Cool quickly; freeze in ice cube trays. When frozen, transfer to freezer container.
4. To serve, heat as many cubes as needed over low heat. Spoon over spaghetti and.
5. top with grated cheese.
