My best friend's mom used to make spaghetti using a thick, meaty sauce. It's easy and very simple, which is what I like about it. The best thing about this recipe is you can use beef, turkey, or even vegetarian meat-substitute crumbles.
Ingredients:
1 lb ground meat (beef, turkey, or vegetarian crumbles)
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 (1 1/4 ounce) packet spaghetti sauce mix
spaghetti (thin or regular)
Directions:
1. In large pot, start boiling water for the spaghetti.
2. In Dutch oven, or large pot, brown ground meat. While it's cooking, season it with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Drain grease.
3. Reduce stove to low/medium heat. Add tomato sauce. Add more cans, depending on how liquidy you want your sauce, reduce cans if you want a thicker sauce. Add diced tomatoes, undrained. Add cream of mushroom and the spaghetti sauce mix packet.
4. At this point, add spaghetti to boiling water and cook as directed on box/package. Simmer sauce for 15-20 minutes or until sauce is as hot as you want.
