This is a light recipe for a turkey burger. The cucumber sauce is different but refreshing when used with the alfalfa sprouts and red onion as garnish. I also add sliced avocado. The patties turn out moist, not dried out like some others I've tried.
Ingredients:
1 1/4 lbs lean ground turkey
1/4 cup finely chopped shallot
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
1 teaspoon chopped fresh oregano
1 teaspoon garlic pepper seasoning
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 tablespoon light mayonnaise
1/2 cup finely chopped seeded cucumber, well drained
5 whole wheat hamburger buns
1/2 cup chopped red onion
2 1/2 cups alfalfa sprouts
Directions:
1. Prepare sauce by blending yogurt, mayo, cucumber and 1 tsp of the oregano in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste and chill until ready to serve.
2. Combine ground turkey, shallots, 1 tablespoon oregano and garlic pepper in medium bowl; toss lightly with fork to mix.
3. Form into 5 patties. Cover and refrigerate.
4. Pre-heat grill to medium direct heat.
5. When ready, grill burgers 12 to 16 minutes or until instant red thermometer registers 170 F, turning once. Please burgers on buns with sauce and onions, top with alfalfa sprouts and avocado if you like.
