Enjoy this japanese inspired dish with someone special. If you can't get hold of wasabi, use english mustard or horseradish instead. Serve with cooked soya or fava beans.
Ingredients:
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
1 tablespoon superfine sugar
2 tuna steaks, about 5oz each
1 lb potato
7 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons wasabi paste
1 scallion, finely sliced
Directions:
1. Mix together the soy sauce, vinegar and suagr. Pour over the tuna and marinate for at least 20 minutes or up to 2 hours in the fridge.
2. Place the potatoes in a pan of lightly salted boiling water, then cook for 10-15 minutes until soft. Drain well.
3. Heat the milk in the pan and mix in the wasabi, return the potatos to the pan, then mash until smooth. Stir through the scallion and keep warm.
4. Heat a non-stick griddle pan until smoking hot. Remove the tuna from the marinade. Cook on the griddle for 2-3 mins on each side until seared on the outside, but still pink in the middle.
5. Serve with the mash and some green beans.
