Old southern recipe from the East Point Women's club cookbook
Ingredients:
6 oranges, peeled & sliced
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup shredded coconut
1 pint milk
3 egg yolks, well beaten
another 1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
meringue
3 egg whites, well beaten
3 teaspoons vanilla
3 tablespoons sugar
Directions:
1. Mix oranges, sugar and shredded coconut.
2. Refrigerate
3. Make a custard of milk, egg yolks, sugar and cornstarch on top of the stove.
4. Drain juice off orange mixture; put the fruit in glass dish and pour custard over fruit
5. Make the meringue and pour over orange mixture
6. Place under broiler until brown
