Sourdough Bread (French)

Ingredients:
1 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees)
1 cup sourdough starter
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Directions:
1. Mix water, the sourdough start and flour in a non-metallic bowl. Cover loosely. Let stand in warm place until mixture bubbles and has a definite sour aroma (about 24 hours).
2. Mix sugar, salt and baking soda into sourdough mixture. Stir in enough of the remaining flour to make dough easy to handle. Knead dough on well-floured surface. Form and let rise until double in size, covered.
