SOUR CREAM APPLE PIE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Morgan Estate in Austin, Texas in 1982.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup all purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
1 egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups peeled and coarsely chopped apples
1 unbaked 9 pie shell
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1-1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. In large bowl stir together sugar, 2 tablespoons of the flour, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and salt.
3. Add sour cream, egg and vanilla then beat until well blended and fold in the apples.
4. Spoon apple mixture into pie shell.
5. In small bowl stir together remaining flour, brown sugar, remaining cinnamon and melted butter.
6. Combine to form crumbs then sprinkle over apple mixture and bake 55 minutes.
7. Remove pie to a wire rack and cool completely before cutting.
