Soft Buttermilk Sugar Cookies

Soft, tender sugar cookies that are perfect alone or better yet frosting and decorating for any occasion. **I usually double this recipe since they disappear SO fast! I hope you enjoy these like we do! :)
Ingredients:
1 cup softened butter or margarine
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon salt
4 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In very large mixing bowl, beat softened butter or margarine, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and buttermilk with electric mixer.
3. Sift together salt, baking soda, baking powder, and flour and add to creamed mixture.
4. Roll on floured surface to approximately 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with desired cookie cutters.
5. Bake for approximately 8 to 9 minutes, or until set but not browned.
6. Ovens vary, so this bake time may be slightly less or higher, depending on your oven.
7. Do not over bake!
8. Remove from oven carefully and let cool on cookie sheet for a few minutes before removing from pan.
9. Transfer cookies onto a surface such as counter top covered with paper towels and allow to cool completely. (I find this better for these cookies rather than placing onto wire racks.)
10. This recipe makes about 3 dozen cookies, depending on size of cutters.
11. Frost with buttercream frosting or other frosting and decorated if desired.
