We don't eat meat much anymore, but I don't want to lose this recipe. When we were first married, we were invited over to an older couple's house for dinner. They made this dish and we absolutely loved it! I asked her for the recipe and can't believe I haven't put it on here! If you try it, it's so easy, yet comes out so tender. Use lower-sodium soy sauce if the sodium content is too high (I usu. use Bragg's Liquid Amino Acids, but haven't tried that with this dish, so not sure if it's hte same.) Prep time includes marinating time. You may want to double the sauce depending on how big your tenderloin is.
Ingredients:
5 ounces light soy sauce
4 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1 pinch garlic
2 lbs beef tenderloin
mushroom (optional)
Directions:
1. Mix all ingredients (except tenderloin) together in small sauce pan and heat through.
2. Marinate tenderloin for a minimum of 4 hours, turning every hour or so. You may also marinate over night in the refrigerator.
3. Heat oven to 350°. Bake tenderloin, basting every 15 minutes, for 45 minutes. You may add mushrooms the last 15 min., if desired.
