I searched Zaar and could not find this exact recipe so I thought we'd give them a try. :-) Please note that the yield amount is estimated at this point. Submitted by msglass from Northbrook, IL. I originally found this recipe on the blog Bake or Break. She had adapted it from a Nigella Lawson recipe. The cookie comes out more cake-like and definitely isn't chewy. But the nutmeg adds special flavor, especially around the holidays.
Ingredients:
1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons granulated sugar, for rolling cookies
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line or grease baking sheets and set aside.
2. Combine flour, nutmeg, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
3. Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add egg and vanilla. Stir in dry ingredients until smooth and just combined. Do not over-stir or the dough will become crumbly.
4. Mix together cinnamon and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Pinch dough into walnut-sized pieces and roll into balls. Roll each ball in cinnamon/sugar mixture, and place on baking sheets.
5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for one minute, then cool completely on a wire rack.
