Smith Mountain Sausage And Egg Casserole

We make this up at the lake house for breakfast. It's nice to have it ready to eat for Christmas morning or those lazy Saturday mornings. The kids tend to like it hot and spicy, but we like the extras sage sausage in it. Read more . Coin toss time!
Ingredients:
1 pound sausage, hot or sage
6 eggs, beaten
6 slices bread, shredded
1 cup cheddar cheese, sharp
2 cups milk
1/8 tsp cream of tartar, optional
1 1/2 tsp dried mustard
Directions:
1. Brown the sausage, drain.
2. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and pour into a 13x9 lightly oiled baking dish. (Refrigerate overnight. We do skip refrigerating it sometimes if we are in a hurry to eat it.)
3. Cover. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove the tinfoil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
