Beef stew in the slow cooker. I only had one can of beef broth, so I used beef bouillon powder too. I think that you could throw together any combination of bouillon, broth and red wine.
Ingredients:
1 lb beef, stewing, extra-lean
1/3 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 cloves garlic
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 onion, chopped
10 oz beef broth
1 1/2 lbs potatoes
4 carrots
1 stalk celery
12 g beef bouillon powder
2 cups water
Directions:
1. Put flour and salt in a zippered bag. Add beef, and shake to coat.
2. Saute beef in skillet until browned. Add onion and cook until softened. Transfer to slow cooker.
3. Add Worcestershire sauce to beef broth, and then deglaze hot skillet. Pour into cooker.
4. Add remaining ingredients. Cook on slow for 10-12 hours; high for 4 - 6 hours.
5. Consider throwing in corn, peas, frozen veggies half an hour before ready.
