Because of my German heritage, I try to use the month of October to cook more German-inspired foods. When my sons were younger, they loved sauerkraut and any dish that contained it. This was a favorite of theirs and I liked that it was a one skillet, easy and tasty sandwich. I served it with German potato salad. Yum!!
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
salt and pepper, to taste
1/2-1 cup sauerkraut
1 cup sour cream
Directions:
1. Brown ground beef with the onions. Salt and pepper to taste.
2. Stir in desired amount of sauerkraut and heat through.
3. Just before serving, stir in sour cream. Heat gently and serve on dark buns.
