Eating on a budget, sloppy joes is a common meal in this household so I always try to add different things to change up the flavor. This is cheap and easy and very good. I use ground turkey because I keep the frozen 1lb tube on hand (it is cheap at Aldi) but you could also use ground beef, venison or chicken.
Ingredients:
1 lb ground turkey or 1 lb beef
1 can any brand manwich sloppy joe mix (i use aldi brand)
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 green pepper (chopped)
8 -10 jalapenos, slices (chopped)
6 slices processed american cheese
Directions:
1. Add the Ground Turkey in a pan on medium heat with a little extra virgin olive oil or butter. Season the meat with a dash salt and pepper and add the 1 tsp Cumin. Chop and add in the green pepper and jalpeno slices. Cook until the meat is brown. (Drain if there is an excess amount of fat) Add the can of sloppy joe mix to the pan and simmer until warm. Add the 6 slices of American cheese (or more if you would like). Cook until the cheese is melted and incorporated in the mixture. Serve on toasted buns or bread. Enjoy :).
