Simple Vanilla Pudding

Ingredients:
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
whipped topping (optional)
candy sprinkles (optional)
Directions:
1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a medium saucepan. Whisk in milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat, whisking constantly. Cook, stirring constantly, 1 minute or until pudding thickens. Remove from heat, and stir in vanilla.
2. Pour pudding into a small bowl. Cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally. Cover with plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator at least 3 hours. Serve pudding with whipped topping and sprinkles, if you'd like.
