Tequila adds warmth to bitter Campari; it's a luxurious cocktail that's a bit like sipping candied grapefruit peel. The perfect grapefruit margarita to enjoy with brunch, or to sip in the shade on a hot summers day, or for your Mexican fiesta. Made with silver tequila, Campari, and freshly squeezed lime and grapefruit juices. Found on 'Serious Eats', originally created by NY bartender Katie Stipe in 2006 as a tequila version of the Hemingway Daiquiri. This cocktail will be featured in Jim Meehan's upcoming PDT Cocktail Book (available October 2011).
Ingredients:
ice
2 ounces silver tequila (100% agave)
1/2 ounce campari
1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 ounce freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
grapefruit, twist to garnish
Directions:
1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
2. Add tequila, Campari, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and simple syrup.
3. Shake well and strain into a chilled coupe. Garnish with grapefruit twist.
