Shrimp With Spicy Tomatoes

I found this in a recipe book, I have since changed it slightly.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons oil
1/2 cup onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 cup mushroom, sliced
1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes with green chilies
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon fresh parsley
1 tablespoon fresh basil
1/4 cup white wine
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 lb bow tie pasta, cooked
salt and pepper
Directions:
1. .saute onions, garlic, and mushrooms in oil.add wine.
2. add everything but shrimp and pasta, allow to simmer about 1/2 hour. add shrimp cook til shrimp are pink.
3. serve over pasta.
4. *my husband likes mexi blend cheese topped on pasta.I like parmesan cheese.
5. ** I always double the recipe, take the left over sauce( no shrimp) and freeze for next week. I take it out of the freezer the day before to thaw. when ready for dinner bring to a hot simmer add another 1 lb of shrimp, cook til done and put over pasta. taste even better the second time around.
