Shrimp Creole

I put this together in the early '70's. My parents liked it so much they requested it monthly.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup onion
1/2 cup celery
2 garlic cloves
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) tomato sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
1 dash tabasco sauce
1 teaspoon cornstarch
12 ounces raw shrimp (cleaned)
1/2 cup green pepper
4 cups cooked rice
Directions:
1. Saute chopped onion, celery and garlic in oil until cooked (not brown).
2. Add everything else but the Shrimp and chopped green pepper and cooked rice.
3. Simmer for 45 minutes.
4. Mix corn starch with 2 teaspoons of water and stir into the sauce.
5. Cook and stir until thickened.
6. Add Shrimp and chopped green pepper.
7. Simmer 5 minutes.
8. Serve over rice.
