This recipe is absolutely fabulous! Adjust the spiciness to your liking by adding more or less hot sauce and chili powder.
Ingredients:
1 cup chopped onion
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup flour
1 bay leaf
1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
0.5 (6 ounce) a can tomato paste
1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes and green chilies
1 1/2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
2 lbs shrimp, peeled and deveined
salt and pepper
hot sauce
Directions:
1. Saute onion, celery, garlic,and bell pepper in butter until onion is translucent.
2. In heavy skillet, make a roux from oil and flour.
3. Cook over medium heat until golden brown.
4. Stir in sauteed vegetables, bay leaf, lemon juice, tomatoe paste, tomatoes, Worcestershire and shrimp.
5. Add water just to cover mixture.
6. Cook over medium heat untl shrimp are pink and tender; strirring occasionally.
