This is something I threw together one day when there was very little in my fridge and I wasn’t up to a trip to the store. I made twice as much as what I am using for this recipe, and the Kids ate every bit, my husband and I didn’t get any. It has become a favorite for the kids and something easy after a long day. Very low budget.
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
6 tablespoons brown gravy mix (enough to make two cups gravy)
2 1/2 cups water
2 tablespoons oil
2 1/2 lbs potatoes, quartered and then sliced into 1/4 in slices (any potatoes will work, the best tasting ones are red potatoes.)
salt and pepper
Directions:
1. In large lidded frying pan heat oil, add potatoes and cover stirring occasionally until the potatoes are done.
2. Meanwhile in a medium size pot, cook your hamburger, onion, and garlic, until hamburger is no longer pink, breaking up large chunks.
3. Drain meat if necessary and return to pot.
4. Sprinkle gravy mix into the meat and onions stir well to coat meat.
5. Add water and stir.
6. Add potatoes to the pot and stir well.
7. Let cool for five to ten minutes and serve.
