Seven Layer Salad

This one wasn't broke so I didn't change a thing, except I don't eat bacon.
Ingredients:
1 head lettuce
1 medium onion, minced
1 (10 ounce) package frozen peas
2 teaspoons sugar
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or favorite cheese)
mayonnaise type salad dressing
1/2-1 lb bacon, crisp fried and crumbled (or substitute, i like sunflower seeds)
Directions:
1. Layer in order given.
2. Spread dressing 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick.
3. Cover and refrigerate over night or all day.
4. Toss and serve.
