Serviette/Napkin Folding, Formal Version Drop and Tie

My interest in serviette folding was born on a wet day at my Grandmother's house, I was a pre teen and helping her with the ironing and watched while she ironed serviettes into wonderful shapes and neatly stacked them for use. I asked her to show me how and she did. Once you know several folds and people see them, they often have at least one other that you haven't seen before, you gain knowledge of the new one and on it goes. This one is another very basic fold and it's closest relative would be Serviette/Napkin Folding, Informal Drop and Tie. The principle is very similar but the effect at the end is very different. Works best with ironed cloth serviettes. You will need one serviette/Napkin ring per serviette.
Ingredients:
1 paper, serviette (large)
1 cloth, serviette (large)
2 napkin rings
Directions:
1. Lay your serviette out flat before you in a diamond shape.
2. Bring the corner at the South point up to meet the North point. you should have before you a triangle shape with the crease at the bottom.
3. Fold the East point of the triangle up to meet the North point, repeat with the West point. You will now have a diamond shape with a vertical gap running down the centre.
4. Carefully slide a serviette/napkin ring over the South point and pull it about 2 inches (5 cm) up the serviette. Arrange the top fabric above the serviette ring and also the fabric below it so that it is symetrical and pleasing to the eye. Insert a flower into the serviette ring if you wish.
