My interest in serviette folding was born on a wet day at my Grandmother's house, I was a pre teen and helping her with the ironing and watched while she ironed serviettes into wonderful shapes and neatly stacked them for use. I asked her to show me how and she did. Once you know several folds and people see them, they often have at least one other that you haven't seen before, you gain knowledge of the new one and on it goes. This one is a variation of Serviette/Napkin Folding, Elegant Basic Roll and uses almost exactly the same technique to get a slightly different result, without the need for a Napkin ring. Works best with cloth napkins and a small name card or flower could be inserted into the fold if wished.
Ingredients:
1 paper, serviette (large)
1 cloth, serviette (large)
Directions:
1. Lay your serviette square out flat before you in a square shape.
2. Take the South corner and fold the point into the center point of the square. Repeat with the East and West corners, but not with the North Point. You should have a square shape in front of you with a triangle on the top that looks like the back side of an envelope with the flap open(the flap is the North point)
3. Take the bottom left and right corners of the square and roll them up towards the North point. Roll past the center of the serviette and keep rolling towards North until you can no longer see anything of the folded in East and West points. This should leave you with a roll that has a triangle sticking out of one side.
4. Turn the serviette around so that the roll is now vertical and place in a plate. Adorn with a name card or flower or bon bon etc if preferred.
