SCONES THAT ONLY THE SCOTTISH KNOW HOW TO MAKE
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all- purpose flour
2 cups rolled oates
1/4 cup sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup currants
1 egg-beaten
1/2 cup unsalted butter-melted
1/3 cup milk
preheat oven to 425f.
Directions:
1. COMBINE FLOUR,OATES,SUGAR,BAKING POWDER,SALT AND CURANTS IN A LARGE BOWL,MIX WELL.
2. MAKE A WELL IN THE CENTER
3. BEAT EGG TILL FROSTY,MIX WITH MELTED BUTTER AND MILK
4. POUR INTO WELL AND STIR TO MAKE A SOFT DOUGH
5. DIVIDE IN HALH AND PAT INTO 2 6 -7 CIRCLES
6. SCORE EACH TOP INTO 8 WEDGES
7. BAKE FOR 15 MINUTES,UNTIL RISEN AND BROWNED
8. SERVE WITH BUTTER & JAM OR WITH LEMON CURD.
