SAUTÉED PEARS WITH BACON This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Pittman Estate in Hurst, Texas in 1993.
Ingredients:
4 large pears cored and cut into thick slices
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 pound bacon chopped
Directions:
1. Place pears in bowl then add sugar, juice, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves then toss to coat.
2. Sauté bacon in skillet until crisp then place bacon to paper towels to drain.
3. Add pears to bacon drippings in skillet and sauté until tender about 10 minutes.
4. Transfer pears and juices in skillet to bowl then sprinkle with bacon.
