This recipe adds a bit of entertainment to old-fashion dressing. It is a recipe that has been in my fiance's family for decades. I am not a big fan of sausage, but my fiance made me try it last Thanksgiving, and I was hooked! So, even you non-sausage lovers will enjoy this. It is wonderful for the holiday season. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 lb sausage
1 large white onion, diced
5 celery ribs, diced
5 cups cornbread
3 cups white bread or 3 cups whole wheat bread, cubed
1 teaspoon sage
3 1/2-4 cups chicken broth
2 eggs, beaten
salt and pepper
Directions:
1. Brown sausage with onions and celery.
2. Mix remaining ingredients thoroughly in large pan.
3. Add sausage, onions, and celery after draining; let sit over night in refregerated area.
4. Bake in oven at 375 degrees until golden brown.
