Sausage Braid

This is really good for a breakfast or brunch. I like it even for lunch or dinner too.
Ingredients:
12 oz pork sausage
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
1 3 oz package cream cheese, cubed
2 tablespoons chopped green onion
2 tablespoons minced, fresh, flat leaf parsley
1 tube refrigerated cresent rolls
1 egg, lightly beaten
Directions:
1. In a skillet, cook sausage, onion, celery, green pepper and garlic until meat is no longer pink and vegetables are tender, drain.
2. Add cream cheese, green onion and parsley.
3. Cook and stir over low heat until cheese is melted, set aside.
4. Unroll cresent dough on a greased baking sheet, press preforations together.
5. Roll into a 12 inch x 10 inch rectangle.
6. Spoon sausage mixture to within 3 inches of long sides and 1 inch of ends.
7. On each long side, cut 3/4 inch wide strips 3 inches into center.
8. Starting on one end, fold alternate strips at an angle, forming a braid.
9. Brush dough with egg.
10. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 min. or until golden brown.
