Nice change of pace from the everyday burger. Ingredients:
1/2 cup crushed gingersnaps (8 cookies) |
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce |
1/4 cup finely chopped onion |
1/4 cup raisins (optional) |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 lb ground beef |
2 tablespoons brown sugar |
2 tablespoons white vinegar |
2 tablespoons water |
1 teaspoon prepared mustard |
pepper |
hot cooked noodles |
Directions:
1. Reserve 2 tbsp of the crushed gingersnaps. 2. Combine remaining gingersnaps, 2 tbsp of the tomato sauce, onions, raisins, and salt. 3. Add meat; mix well. 4. Shaped into four 1.2 in thick patties. 5. Brown in skillet; drain off fat. 6. Combine remaining tomato sauce, sugar, vinegar, water, mustard and pepper. 7. Pour over burgers. 8. Cover; simmer for 10-15 minutes, spooning sauce over meat. 9. Remove burgers. 10. Stir the reserved 2 tbsp into sauce in skillet. 11. Cook until bubbly. 12. Return burgers to skillet; heat through. 13. Serve with hot buttered noodles. |
