Sam's Chicken Mac 'n' Cheese (Crock Pot)

This recipe is similar to Easy Crock Pot Macaroni and Cheese, but I made a few changes based on the what I had, added some chicken and tried to work on that 'floury taste' a few people commented on. Its not traditional mac and cheese but it hearty and tasty.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper pepper
1/2 brown onion, chopped finely
1 small red chili (i used one from a jar)
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
4 cups milk
1 1/2 cups of grated cheddar cheese
2 1/2 cups uncooked small penne pasta
300 g of sliced chicken breasts
1 tablespoon butter
Directions:
1. Fry chicken in butter (I used a large pot, as everything starts here before the slowcooker!) until chicken is white, add onion and garlic continue to fry until chicken is golden.
2. Remove the chicken mix from the pot.
3. Add milk, salt, pepper, chilli and flour in to the pot.
4. Stir over medium heat until sauce thickens, turn heat down.
5. Add cheese, stir until mixed evenly and add chicken mixture back into pot.
6. Add pasta and stir until well combined.
7. Pour everything into a greased crock pot and cook on high for 45 minutes to an hour, stirring halfway through, to ensure nothing sticks to the bottom.
8. Stir it once more when done and serve.
