Our most popular bread recipe for our bread machine. My wife and I have been making our own bread for about 15 years now and we are on our 4th bread machine. This recipe is the family favorite, and makes the best french bread (remove the caraway seeds) bar none. For one sleep-over for our daughter we went through four 1 1/2 pound loaves for 6 teenaged girls and a couple of parents.
Ingredients:
1 1/3 cups warm water
1/2 cup wheat flour
1/2 cup rye flour
2 cups bread flour
1 1/2 tablespoons honey
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
3 tablespoons nonfat dry milk powder
2 teaspoons yeast
2 tablespoons caraway seeds
Directions:
1. follow the directions for your particular brerad machine when adding the ingredients. Our machine starts with the warm water and other liquids first.
2. Add the dry ingredients in order with the yeast on top.
3. Set the machine to the Wheat Bread cycle, 1.5 lb loaf size, light or medium crust color.
4. Add the Whole Caraway Seeds when the fruit/nut beeper goes off, If your machine doesn't have a fruit/nut beeper the add the caraway seeds last.
