Russian Meatballs In Pomegranate Sauce

Now that pomagranates are in season it's time to enjoy
Ingredients:
meat balls
3/4# ground beef-1/2# ground lamb-1 medium onion-grated-1 egg,slightly beaten-2 tbs. water-1/4 cup dry bread crumbs-1/4 tsp. ground alspice-1/4 tsp.paprila-1 tsp. dried mint-salt and pepper to taste-1/4 cup flour-5 tbs. butter
sauce
1/3 cup beef stock-1 1/2 cups pomagranate juice-1/4 cup pomagranate seeds-1/4 cup fresh mint-chopped-salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
1. combine the first 10 items and mix well,cover and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
2. shape meat balls the size of walnuts,spread flour on a plate and roll meatball in flour
3. melt butter in skillet and cook meatball until well browned on all sides-about 15 minutes
4. remove from skillet and set aside
5. pour in stock,increase heat to high and scrape skillet bottom and let boil for 5 minutes. season with salt and pepper to taste
6. add browned meatballs and seeds,reduce heat to low,cover and simmer for 15 minutes, garnish with mint and serve over cooked rice
