This recipe (good for saucing up two large pizzas, with a little left over for dipping the crusts in :) was created by my lovely sister-in-law, Robin! I had been on a search for my own favorite recipe because I could never duplicate its amazing taste since she has always just measured it by eye. But when she pinned down the exact measurements for me, my search for the perfect pizza sauce was over! It's not too sweet, not too spicy, not too bland, not too overpowering! It goes well with meat toppings as well as sweet additions like pineapple, and also serves as a fantastic dipping sauce for garlic bread or breadsticks!!
Ingredients:
2 (15 ounce) cans tomato puree (i recommend great value brand)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon onion powder, heaping
2 big garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil, heaping
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon parsley
1/2 teaspoon marjoram
1/8 teaspoon fennel seed, whole
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in medium saucepan.
2. Let it softly boil for at least 15 minutes—watch for splatters!
3. ENJOY!
