Rich Pound Cake With Butter Glaze

My mother in law has been making this recipe for years and she recently handed it down to me. It's the BEST pound cake I've ever had!!! Please note the recipe calls for both margarine AND butter. She assured me to use the combination and not just one or the other. Read more . I'm not sure why, but this recipe is best left as is!!! The glaze is my addition because sometimes, you just crave a little extra sweetness/richness!!! Enjoy!
Ingredients:
2 sticks softened margarine
1 stick softened butter
3 c. sugar
3 1/2 c. unsifted cake flour
5 large eggs (must be room temp)
1 c. milk
1 tbsp vanilla
pinch of salt
butter glaze
3+ tbsp milk
2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
1 stick unsalted butter
1/4-1/2 tsp vanilla (to taste)
Directions:
1. Cream margarine, butter, and suger until light and fluffy, about 5 mins in stand mixer
2. Add half of the flour and half or the milk and beat well.
3. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition.
4. Add remaining flour, salt, vanilla, and milk.
5. Beat until light and smooth.
6. Grease and flour a tube pan
7. START IN A COLD OVEN!
8. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 20 mins. Let cool in pan for 15 mins.
9. Butter Glaze:
10. Place sugar in bowl and set aside
11. Melt butter and add to sugar
12. Add milk and vanilla.
13. Whisk well, add additional milk if needed to reach desired consistency.
