I have been trying to imitate Wendy's chili for awhile now. I think this is as close as I'm going to get. This is really in-expensive and it will feed a crowd in less than an hour if need be. I like to serve this with cheesy garlic bread or crackers and cheese. Read more . This is always better the second time and it freezes really well. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
2-lbs ground beef
2- cans light red kidney beans
2- cans pinto beans(ranch style is good)
1-28oz. can petite diced tomatoes
1-cup ketchup
1/2-cup worcestershire sauce
2-tsp chili powder
1-cup chopped onion(i use the frozen, easy!)
1-cup chopped green bell pepper(frozen, also)
1-tsp minced garlic
1- cup shredded cheddar(it makes a difference, but don't add more, you can to it with more when serving. adding more now will make it too salty(learned the hardway).
1-tsp tony's seasoning(can use cayenne pepper if not available in your area)
Directions:
1. Brown ground meat (chop finely while browning), onions, peppers, garlic and then drain.
2. Place in a deep pot along with all other ingredients.
3. Stir to blend well, Heat on medium heat until warm then place on low and let simmer for about 20 minutes.
4. Top with additional cheese, sour cream, or green onions, if desired.
