Red Wine Dessert Sauce - Rødvinsaus

This luscious sauce is great on ice cream and custards. Yield and servings are approximate. Found online and slightly modified.
Ingredients:
1 cup red wine
1/2 cup cherry juice
1 tablespoon cornstarch
5 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon cognac
slivered almonds (optional)
Directions:
1. Place wine and cherry juice in a saucepan.Heat to a boiling point. Meanwhile, mix cornstarch and water until smooth.
2. Add to the boiling mixture, whisking constantly. Boil for a minute or two.
3. Remove from heat and add cognac. Add almonds, if desired.
4. Serve warm or cool.
