Red Beans and Rice

Bayou country favorite!
Ingredients:
2 cups red beans
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic
2 teaspoons seasoning salt
bay leaf
1 pinch sugar
red pepper
smoked sausage, sliced
cooked rice
Directions:
1. Wash beans, soak overnight and drain.
2. Cover beans and all ingredients with cold water.
3. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer until done.
4. Serve over rice.
5. (When I'm in a hurry I use 3 cans of dark red beans).
