If you love ranch dressing, but do not want the additives in most bottled brands, then you will love this. Just make the spice mix, keep it in the freezer (there is enough for MANY uses), and when you want ranch dressing, just mix with buttermilk and mayo. If you want ranch dip, then mix with sour cream and mayo. It is worth the time to prepare this mix, and worth the collection of spices necessary to make it.
Ingredients:
7 1/2 saltine crackers
1/2 cup dry parsley flakes
1/3 cup dry onion flakes
1 tablespoon dry dill weed
1/8 cup onion salt
1/8 cup garlic salt
1/8 cup onion powder
1/8 cup garlic powder
2 tablespoons dried basil
2 tablespoons celery seeds
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried tarragon
Directions:
1. measure all ingredients carefully,,,,,not “rounded” teaspoons etc.
2. Dump all ingredients into a blender or food processor ( I use the Vita-Mix) and blend until fine powdered.) You will get about 1 1/2 to 2 cups of mix.
3. Store mix in freezer, with a note on it about how to use, as below:.
4. TO USE: The day before serving….
5. Mix:.
6. 1 level tablespoon measure of the spice mix.
7. 1 cup of mayo
8. 1 cup of buttermilk. ***** NOTE********(use sour cream instead of buttermilk if you are making dip)
9. Whisk all thoroughly and store in frig.
