Everyone has a blondie recipe, I know, but these are cute and ideal for bake sales. Thanks to both butter and shortening they turn out really moist!
Ingredients:
1-1/3 cups hershey's kissables® chocolate candies (they look like little m&m's and are multi-colored)
1 stick butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped nuts, optional, but i use macadamia nuts in these because they are delicious
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 375°.
2. In a bowl, beat butter and shortening until well blended.
3. Add brown sugar and granulated sugar and beat well.
4. Add eggs, vanilla, baking soda and salt.
5. Beat thoroughly.
6. Gradually beat in flour. If dough becomes too stiff to use the mixer, stir in remaining flour with a spoon.
7. Stir in candies and nuts.
8. Press the dough into an ungreased 15-1/2x10-1/2x1-inch jelly-roll pan.
9. Bake 15-20 minutes or until top is golden.
10. Set on a wire rack and cool completely in the pan.
11. Cut into bars.
12. Depending on the size you cut, you'll get 2-3 dozen bars from this which is why it is ideal for bake sales!!!
