Pumpkin Butterscotch Chip Squares

Delicious Autumn/Thanksgiving/Christmas/Whenever dessert ;-)
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. freshly ground nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
1-1/4 cups granulated sugar
1 egg
2-1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup canned pumpkin
1 pkg. butterscotch or chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Grease a glass 13 x 9 inch pan.
3. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, spices, baking soda, and salt and set aside.
4. With an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar on medium high speed
5. until smooth, beat in egg and vanilla until combined.
6. Beat in pumpkin puree which may look somewhat curdled.
7. Reduce speed to low and mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
8. Fold in butterscotch or chocolate chips.
9. Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan.
10. Bake until edges begin to pull away from the sides of pan and a toothpick comes out with just a few stuck crumbs, approximately 35 to 40 minutes.
11. Cool completely in pan.
12. Ice if you like or sprinkle with confectioners' sugar after it has completely cooled.
13. Depending on the size you cut, you should get at least 16 squares.
