Oh-so-wonderful cakey cookies that slightly puff when baked. I love making these in March to celebrate the coming of warm weather. Spring is also the sugaring season, making it a great time to revel in maple flavor! You can add a 1/4 cup more syrup to the recipe for additional sweetness.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup real maple syrup
1 egg
5 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
walnuts
Directions:
1. Note: Only use REAL maple syrup for this recipe. It is a tad more expensive, but the flavor is more pronounced and delicious. These cookies will NOT turn out if maple-flavored corn syrup is used in its place.
2. Combine the flour and baking soda in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, combine the wet ingredients and mix well until smooth and creamy. Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing well as you go.
3. When finished, dollop the dough onto a oiled cookie sheet, placing approximately 1 inch apart. Top with the walnuts and bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes, until cookies are golden brown.
4. Serve and enjoy!
