Pretty Poached Pears

~Poached Pears~
Ingredients:
4 pears,firm
1 bottle red wine
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons cornstarch
2 tablespoon water
mint leaves
Directions:
1. Peel pears,leaving stem in place.
2. Cut bottom of each pear to set square.
3. Place pears in bowl with water and lemon juice.
4. In saucepan,that will hold all pears,combine the wine,sugar,and vanilla,bring to boil.
5. Add pears,cover with double layers of waxed paper.
6. Steam over low heat for about 25 to 30 minutes.
7. Remove pears from wine,stand on plate,cool.
8. Mix cornstarch and water,add to the boiling wine syrup.
9. Stir and boil until thick,remove from heat and allow to cool.
10. Combine the wine syrup and pears,refrigerate.
11. When ready to serve,place one pear for each guest into a nice crystal dessert dish,pour sauce over,placing fresh mint leaves atop.
