I am really only posting this recipe to make sure I never lose it. I love this bread
Ingredients:
4 3/4 cups flour, sifted
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons lukewarm water
1 cup milk
1 -2 compressed yeast cake
1 1/4 lbs english walnuts
2 cups sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup milk (scald with butter)
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
2. scald milk.
3. add butter and sugar cool to lukewarm.
4. add yeast and well beaten eggs and salt.
5. add 1/2 of the sifted flour.
6. rise until double in bulk.
7. knead in remaining flour.
8. roll to 1/8 inch thick.
9. filling.
10. grind nuts as fine as possible.
11. combine all ingredents .
12. spread 1/4 of filling on 1/4 of dough and roll like cinnamon rolls.
13. place in greased loaf pan folding under ends.
14. brush with beaten egg.
15. bake 350 for 1 hour.
