I love to eat Pot Stickers, dipping in Soy Syrup.
Ingredients:
3 c. finely shredded cabbage
4 green onions with tops, finely chopped
1 egg white
1 t. soy sauce
1 t. minced fresh ginger
1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes (optional)
1/4 lb. ground chicken or pork, cooked
24 wonton wrappers, at room temp.
cornstarch
1/2 c. water
1 t. oyster sauce
2 tsp. grated lemon peel
1/2 tsp. honey
1 t. peanut oil
1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
Directions:
1. Steam cabbage 5 minutes, then cool to room temperature.
2. Squeeze out any excess moisture; set aside.
3. To prepare filling, combine egg white, soy sauce, 1/4 tsp pepper flake, ginger, and green onions in large bowl; blend well.
4. Stir in cabbage and chicken or pork.
5. To prepare pot stickers, place 1 tablespoon filling in center of 1 wonton wrapper.
6. Gather edges around filling, pressing firmly at top to seal.
7. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
8. Place pot stickers in large baking sheet dusted with cornstarch. Refrigerate 1 hour or until cold.
9. Meanwhile, to prepare sauce, combine remaining ingredients except oil in small bowl; mix well.
10. Set aside.
11. Heat oil in large nonstick skillet over high heat.
12. Add pot stickers and cook until bottoms are golden brown.
13. Pour sauce over top.
14. Cover and cook 3 minutes.
15. Uncover and cook until all liquid is absorbed.
16. Serve warm.
