Poppy Seed Salad Dressing

Spread over fresh fruits in season, including avocados, and in winter serve with grapefruit for a citrus treat. Cooking time is refrigeration. *NOTE that 1 C honey may be exchanged for sugar, omitting the first step below.
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup vinegar
1 1/3 cups salad oil
1 tablespoon grated onion
1 1/4 teaspoons dry mustard
2 teaspoons poppy seeds
Directions:
1. Combine sugar, salt and vinegar in sauce pan; heat over low heat until sugar disolves. (Omit this step if using honey.).
2. Pour disolved sugar into a quart jar; add oil, onion, mustard and poppy seeds; shake to mix.
3. Refrigerate. Shake before stirring.
