Poppy Seed Cake

This cake has the taste of lemon and the texture that the poppy seeds give.
Ingredients:
2 2/3 cups all purpose flour, sifted
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter
1 3/4 cups sugar
5 eggs, separated
1 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup poppy seeds
1 tbsp lemon zest
Directions:
1. Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together.
2. Beat butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until fluffy.
3. Beat in egg yolks one at a time.
4. Add sifted dry ingredients to butter and egg mixture, alternately with buttermilk ending with dry ingredients.
5. Beat until smooth.
6. Add poppy seeds and lemon zest.
7. Beat egg whites until foamy and gradually beat in remaining 1/4 cup sugar until soft peaks form.
8. Fold in batter until no white remains.
9. Pour into a greased 10 bundt pan.
10. Bake at 325 degrees for 55 minutes.
11. Loosen cake and invert on wire rack.
12. Cool and sprinkle with confectioner's sugar before serving.
