Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter, no substitutions
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 cup molasses (either regular or light molasses is fine)
1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup water, boiling
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup currants
Directions:
1. Sift the dry ingredients together.
2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy; add egg and mix thoroughly.
3. Add molasses.
4. Add sifted dry ingredients alternatively to the batter with the boiling water.
5. Add raisins and currants.
6. Mix well; pour into a well-greased pudding mold and steam for 90 minutes.
7. Serve with any desired pudding sauce.
