My daughter loves to play with play dough and she loves to make it with me, but I'm always worried about a hot stove. This recipe doesn't require cooking on the stove top, however care is still need. If your child is going to help, please note once the boiling water is added, it's HOT. It could easily burn hands even adult hands (I used heat resistant gloves). This makes heaps of play dough, approximately two kilograms. You could use more food colouring for a stronger colour or add glitter for a fun tone. For the bench flour you may need to add more or less depending on the dough
Ingredients:
4 cups plain flour
4 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 cup salt
8 tablespoons oil
1 tablespoon food coloring
4 cups boiling water
1/2 cup plain flour
Directions:
1. Put in all dry ingredients (flour, cream of tartar and salt) into a large heat resistant bowl - Mix ingredients.
2. In another large heat resistant bowl add all the wet ingredients (oil, your child’s favourite colour using the food colouring & hot boiled water) stir ingredients.
3. Add wet ingredients with dry ingredients and mix well.
4. Take Care as it is HOT. Tip mixture out on a floured bench and knead. Add extra flour until dough is smooth and not sticking on bench, kneading could take about 15 minutes.
5. Stored in air tight containers in the fridge.
