This is like eating an antipasto and a pizza all in one.
Ingredients:
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 teaspoon granulated sugar, or to taste
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
(i add some crushed red pepper flakes as well.)
1 head iceberg lettuce, torn
8 ounces salami or pepperoni, cut in strips
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1 to 2 ripe tomatoes, seeded and diced
1/2 cup ripe olives, halved
2 green onions, thinly sliced (or more to your liking!)
Directions:
1. Whisk together tomato sauce, oil, vinegar, sugar, salt, garlic powder, oregano, black pepper and red pepper flakes (if using.)
2. Chill until ready to serve salad.
3. Toss together remaining ingredients.
4. Pour dressing over salad to taste.
5. Toss.
6. Pass remaining dressing if desired.
