Homemade pita bread; this is very good with tzatziki sauce, or just as a sandwich bread. Cut the rounds in half to create pita pockets, flatten very thin before baking to ensure good wrapping qualities, or even leave in ball form during baking for pita buns.
Ingredients:
6 cups of all-purpose flour
2 cups of warm water
1 tablespoon of honey
2 teaspoons of salt
1 tablespoon of dry active yeast
Directions:
1. Dissolve the yeast in the water.
2. Mix the honey into the yeast and water.
3. Add the salt, then put the flour in, one cup at a time, and stir until you can't stir the dough anymore.
4. Knead the dough for ten minutes.
5. Put the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover the bowl with a damp towel, and allow the dough to rest for two hours.
6. Punch the dough down, then separate it into ten separate balls.
7. Allow the balls to rest for fifteen minutes and preheat your oven to 450 degrees.
8. Flatten the balls down to your preferred size, and bake in the oven for ten to twelve minutes.
