Mix cake as directed. Set oven at 220 degrees and add butter; when melted, add sugar. Spread over suface of pan. Arrange drained fruit over the sugar mixture. Cherries and other garnishes may be added. Spread batter in pan over the fruit and sugar. Set oven at 260 degrees. Bake about 30 minutes or until dry on top. Loosen at sides and invert on platter. Let stand a few minutes and lift up pan.
